Berkeley Summer Sessions

UC Berkeley Summer Sessions offers more than 600 courses in over 80 academic disciplines and is an ideal way to speed up the progress of your academic career. Sessions are three, six, eight, ten, or 12 weeks in length, and classes start as early as May or as late as July. All courses carry regular academic credit and will be recorded on your Berkeley transcript.

University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP)

The UC Education Abroad Program offers over 160 UC-approved programs with UC credit, grades, financial aid and scholarships. Over 50 UCEAP programs are available during the summer ranging from Korea to South Africa to Brazil. Students can explore new cultures, gain valuable research, internship, and professional experience, become globally conscious, and transform their lives, UC, and the world.

Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies

Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies

TDPS offers engaging summer courses in acting, design, public speaking, and performance studies. Students have the opportunity to earn a three-course summer certificate for Performance & Culture in the U.S. The certificate program allows students to deepen their U.S. cultural literacy and intercultural communication skills while learning how performance intersects with media and society. Students are welcome to enroll in TDPS summer courses without completing the certificate.

The Department of Spanish & Portuguese offers a variety of lower and upper division classes online at Cal. We will also lead two study abroad programs in Madrid, Spain and Puebla, Mexico.

School of Information

The I School offers three professional master’s degrees and an academic doctoral degree. Two of our master's programs have a summer start. Our MIMS program trains students for careers as information professionals and emphasizes small classes and project-based learning. Our MIDS program trains data scientists to manage and analyze the coming onslaught of big data, in a unique high-touch online degree. Our MICS program prepares cybersecurity leaders with the technical skills and contextual knowledge necessary to develop solutions for complex cybersecurity challenges. Our Ph.D. program equips scholars to develop solutions and shape policies that influence how people seek, use, and share information.

The Summer Venture Lab Program provides student founders the opportunity to take their new venture project or research one step closer to market. Utilizing the Berkeley Method of Entrepreneurship, the curriculum provides best practices along with an emphasis on leadership, mindset, and networking while being guided by industry experts.

Plant & Microbial Biology

Thinking of applying to nursing, pharmacy, optometry, physician assistant, or veterinary school? You'll need a course in microbiology, and PMB can help! We offer our General Microbiology course (PMB/MCB C112) in the 10-week summer session, and we'd love to see you there! PMB is also looking to expand its summer course offerings in plant and microbial biotechnology, agriculture and society, microbiomes, food systems, and/or climate science, so stop by our table and tell us what course you'd like to take next summer!
