Before You Apply

Explore courses on the Class Schedule (a five-digit class number from the class description is needed to enroll - be sure to write this number down).
Read the sections on our website on Fees, Refund Policy, Summer Schedule and Deadlines and Academic Policies.

Application opens in February. Visit the application page and follow the submission instructions. All non-UC visiting students will be required to pay a non-refundable $25 Application Fee.
Once your application is processed, you will be sent an email with instructions on how to create your UC Berkeley login (CalNet ID). Please allow 2-3 days to receive email instructions.
Log in to CalCentral and complete all required tasks. Certain tasks will be required prior to enrollment.
In CalCentral, enroll in classes and pay the total amount due (look for “Tasks” list in CalCentral dashboard). Once you've paid for your classes, you will be confirmed as a Summer Sessions student.
Note that official notifications will be sent to your UC Berkeley email address. Remember to check it regularly to make sure that you do not miss important and timely notifications regarding housing, billing, or enrollment activity.

Make housing arrangements as soon as possible after registration.
Review your most up-to-date class schedule in CalCentral.
Research the San Francisco International Airport or Oakland International Airport for available ground transportation options to Berkeley.

Check into your summer housing.
Follow the instructions you received by email to pick up your Cal 1 Card and AC Transit EasyPass.
Attend our virtual orientation presentation. Information will be emailed to you.
Attend your first classes.
Buy textbooks. You can check Cal Student Store for the assigned books for your classes
Make friends and explore the Bay Area! Attend the Summer Sessions campus events.

Log in to CalCentral and pay any outstanding balance.
Confirm that your grades are assigned in CalCentral before ordering an official transcript. See the Office of the Registrar for more information.
Your CalNet ID expires 120 days after the end of summer. Update your profile information in CalCentral, such as your mailing address, preferred email address, etc.
