Transfer Edge courses take place in two sessions: Session C—June 20 to August 12 (eight weeks), and Session D—July 5 to August 12 (six weeks). Students are enrolled on a first come, first served basis.
You may take any of the more than 600 courses Summer Sessions offers during Transfer Edge, including those from lists of specially chosen courses in their major department, and courses chosen to fulfill the American Cultures requirement. You will have the opportunity to register for these courses when filling out the online application. To be eligible for summer financial aid, you are required to enroll in a minimum of six units.
When considering which classes to take, it may be helpful if you review the general undergraduate graduation requirements. Each college and school within UC Berkeley has its own requirements. Check with your specific college, school, and/or major for specific details. If you are enrolling in a course for your intended major, you must take that course for a letter grade.
Once you have completed the Transfer Edge application, you can go to the Cal Student Store website and follow the appropriate links for the summer term and courses in which you are enrolled to access a list of both required and recommended books for your class/es.
