Astronomy 9 - Selected Topics in Astronomy

Topics include stars, galaxies, the interstellar medium, relativity and cosmology, history of astronomy, observational astronomy, and life in the universe.

This information session presents everything you need to know about Berkeley Summer Sessions including class schedules, academic culture, costs and student testimonials.

How to Apply

Application and enrollment for all student types opens in February. For important application dates and deadlines, visit our Application page.

Note: All non-UC visiting students are required to pay a non-refundable $25 application fee.

What will you need to apply? Applications for summer sessions are non-competitive and open to the general public. As long as you meet eligibility requirements, you will need to create an account in our application portal using a valid email address. Within 48 hours, you’ll receive an invitation to enroll in courses.

If you’re a high school student interested in Berkeley summer online courses, our Pre-College Scholars: Virtual Program allows you to take courses for UC Berkeley credit and be part of our virtual campus this summer.


Note About Instruction Modes

As you search the course catalog, you'll find both "Online" and Web-Based" instruction types for summer.
