Dear College Counselors and Teachers,
Your students look to you for guidance as they plan their academic futures. I am writing to provide you with information about UC Berkeley Summer Sessions and Study Abroad, which offer many unique opportunities for your students.
Berkeley opens enrollment to visiting students all summer. They join a diverse global community of scholars from all over the world, participating in more than 600 courses Berkeley offers. During the summer, students on campus have access to world-class faculty, courses, libraries, and facilities. Students earn transferable credits while advancing toward the completion of their degrees.
Summer Edge is an award-winning program that gives newly admitted fall freshmen and transfer students an opportunity to learn about life as a Berkeley student before the fall semester starts. By taking prerequisites early, students have more flexibility when planning their fall and spring semesters, and more options to explore different majors and earn units towards graduation. Enrolling at Berkeley in the summer allows your students to experience a smooth and beneficial transition into university life. For more information, visit summer.berkeley.edu/transfer.
Berkeley also offers students opportunities abroad during the summer. These programs give students the chance to learn outside of the classroom while earning credit toward their degree:
Berkeley Global Internships give students the unique opportunity to earn academic credit while gaining practical experience in their field of interest in both domestic and international locations. Rather than students undergoing a time-consuming search on their own, the Global Internships team works with them to find an internship placement that fits their academic background and meets their career goals. For more information, visit globalinternships.berkeley.edu.
Berkeley Summer Abroad offers programs composed of academic courses, thought-provoking activities, and excursions that are designed to make the most of their extraordinary locations. Led and taught by Berkeley faculty, these programs provide students with an opportunity to immerse themselves in a new culture. For more information, visit summerabroad.berkeley.edu.
Thank you for all of your hard work ensuring that students take advantage of the many opportunities available to them. Please contact our staff, who will answer any questions you may have. We look forward to hearing from you.
