Business Chinese

The deadline to apply to Travel Study programs has passed. We are no longer accepting applications.

Please be sure to explore the other opportunities offered by Berkeley Summer Sessions, and visit our website in the future for Summer 2009 Travel Study options.

Acquire the cultural, social and business skills necessary to communicate on a daily basis with the public and professional communities through an intensive six-week immersion in Taipei. Local experts are invited to discuss topics on Chinese culture such as calligraphy, the arts, Chinese painting and theatre. Discussions of Taiwan's history, politics, economics, and business are also conducted by local experts. The program offers not only language instruction coordinated in collaboration with National Taiwan University, but also field trips to international companies, tea factories, government offices, night markets, theatres, industrial parks, the National Palace Museum, and natural scenic sites.

Scholarship Opportunity

UC Berkeley's Business Chinese Program receives a generous financial subsidy from the Ministry of Education (MOE) of Taiwan each year. This subsidy is used to award scholarships to qualifying students. Last year each student on the program received a $500-scholarship from the MOE.
