Jeroen Dewulf, Assistant Professor

Jeroen Dewulf was born in Ostend, Belgium, in 1972. He graduated in Dutch and German Philology at the University of Ghent, in Belgium. He holds a Master's degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Porto, in Portugal, and a Ph.D. in German Literature from the University of Bern, in Switzerland. He has taught Dutch Studies, German Cultural History and Comparative Literature in Portugal (Braga, Porto) and Brazil (Fortaleza, Sao Paulo) and was visiting professor at the University of Antwerp. He became director of the Dutch Studies Program at UC Berkeley (Queen Beatrix Chair) in 2007. His areas of specialization are European Studies, particularly related to (multi)cultural identity in Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland, and Post-Colonial Studies, in particular Dutch and Portuguese colonial history and literature.
