Spanish Language and Culture

Program Description

This intermediate level course will meet on the Berkeley campus for one week. Students will then travel to Madrid for the following four weeks, using the cosmopolitan capital of Spain as the base of study. This will create an immersion experience in Spanish for the students. In addition to the classroom hours, students will experience the pace of Spanish life, going out into the community and interacting with others to gain insight to the day-to-day life of a madrileno/a. Students will have the opportunity to select tasks of interest: markets, museums, and social activities. Students will not be simply visitors, but learners seeking to understand contemporary Spain through our view of Madrid. In addition, there will be field trips of historic and artistic interest outside of Madrid.
