Italian Language and Culture

Florence

Beginning-level students can participate in an oral approach to Italian language through communicative activities and creative exercises. You will learn about Italian art, history, architecture, theater, and other aspects of Italian culture through lectures, walking tours of Florence, Fiesole, and the Tuscan hillside town of San Gimignano. You can see first-hand the setting that has fostered and inspired so much of Italian culture. Special attention is given to Florence and Tuscany, tracing the development of Italian civilization from the Etruscans and Romans through the Renaissance.
