"Professor Pirnazor truly cares about her students and we noticed!" is the comment of one former student about this summer's instructor of both Persian courses. Jaleh Pirzanor, who has taught at Berkeley for over twenty years, keeps abreast of the latest developments in proficiency-based language instruction, and her students benefit as a result. Students repeatedly praise her ability to motivate and encourage them. Dr. Pinzanor's research interests include Iranian history, literature, ethnic and religious minorities in Iran. She has published multiple articles in Persian and in English, on topics including Iranian diaspora literature and the history of contemporary Iranian Jews.
