Eligibility for Financial Aid

To be eligible for financial aid, you must:

  • Take at least 6 units in total during Summer Session.
  • Complete the Summer 2008 Entering Student Financial Aid Application by May 15.
Click here for the financial aid application (pdf)
  • Fax it to the Financial Aid Office at (510) 643-5526.

  • File 2008-2009 FAFSA by May 15.
Click here to go to the FAFSA site.

Notification of Financial Aid

Approximately 14 days after you file the Summer 2008 Entering Student Application and the FAFSA, you will receive e-mail notification to visit the Summer Aid Estimator. The Estimator tells you the amount of financial aid you will receive before you register for classes. It will ask you to list the courses you plan to take, then give you the amount of aid available for those courses.

Accepting Financial Aid

You must first register for summer classes. You should accept your financial aid offer after you have registered for classes and finalized your schedule.

Note:

Once an official letter is complete and accepted, no changes to your financial aid are allowed. If you drop or change courses, your grant and/or loan eligibility may be reduced or cancelled, and you may be billed for funds.
